Molding Minds Changes Lives!

Picture
*WHO ARE WE?
Molding Minds is a community based organization that aims to empower people to reach their God given potential and purpose. Each person has unique gifts that need to be recognized, cultivated, and put to good use, not only by words but by actions that help to change the lives of others. We are grateful to be able to meet the needs of the people in the community through education, empowerment, and outreach efforts. Molding Minds Ministries is steadily expanding and has pioneered four programs that are changing lives throughout the Hampton Roads area and beyond.

*WHAT IS OUR MISSION?
Our mission is to instill a new found sense of hope, renewed faith, and elevated aspirations into people so that they can realize their power, purpose, and potential. Ultimately, the goal is to help them recognize that they too can be a productive part of change and achieve success despite their environment or the struggles they may face. We aim to meet the needs of the people in the community using a direct and hands on approach.

*WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO?
EPHESIANS 4:12 To prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. Ministry means service. To minister is to serve. Of course, the foremost way of helping people is to help them know God and His Word, so they can receive all God has provided for them. But anything that helps people -- that makes their life easier, or better -- is also ministry. Service is helping others....in any way that YOU can. Giving from your heart, donating your time, or taking a moment to pour into the life of another. Should people have to fill out a 5 page application to get shoes for their feet? Should we make mothers show 12 pieces of identification before we give them bread to feed their children? Should we do background checks before we give a homeless person a winter coat?....The answer is no. When we go to God we don't have to go through a verification process before He hears our prayers.......the moral of the story is that helping people should be a lot less complicated and we intend to make it so.

*WHAT ARE OUR PROGRAMS?
  • Molding Mommies caters to women, especially single mothers, in order to reinforce the definition of womanhood. We host interactive empowerment seminars and workshops to equip women with the tools that they need to change their circumstances and the direction of their families.
  • Molding Missions seeks to lend a helping hand to under-served populations who are less fortunate. This component of the program provides food, clothing, and care kits to those in need in order to help them get on their feet.
  • Molding Men redirects young men and steers them away from the streets through positive mentoring efforts and education geared toward creating positive trends while eliminating negative influences.
  • Making of Magnificence is a series of self esteem building workshops focusing on issues that young women face. Participants include young girls, teens, and women.
  • *The Blessing Bus is a mobile outreach ministry serving the needs of those who are homeless. Distributes care packages that include hygiene products and food items to those that have been displaced. Picks up clothing and food donations for distribution to those in needs.
  • *Community Clothing Closet provides food, clothing, and hygiene products to residents in under served neighborhoods. Open to the public….all items are FREE!

*HOW DO WE DO IT?
  • Our ingenious tools of the trade include role play skits, team building exercises, breakout discussions, leadership skills practice, goal creation sessions, journaling exercises, college preparation kits, and volunteer activities. These are just a few of the highly effective resources we utilize to keep our workshops interactive and engaging.
  • We tackle topics such as spirituality, self-esteem, growing up fatherless, career choices, college preparation, money management, and a full curriculum to choose from.
  • We go into the community and host events that meet the needs of the people-DIRECTLY. James 2:15-17 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

It's time to expand our territory in 2012 and we want your input. "Word On The Street" is our virtual suggestion box that allows YOU to tell US where the need is and how we can help. New programs have been added & new communities will be reached as we cast our net wider. Ultimately,  the overall goal of Molding Minds is to impact more lives through  giving and guiding God's people with purpose filled direction. Help guide the change you want to see and give us your feedback today!

"Motivating people with your words and actions is the easy part, it rests on you & God alone.
It's convincing people that they are worth the effort that goes into making a change that's the hard part, it rests solely on their ability to decide that they can & will be better!"

The Blessing Bus is a mobile outreach ministry that will be set up at different sites throughout Hampton Roads. With the warm weather approaching many of the resources that had been established to help the homeless through the winter have now been ceased. We want to be able to help them to maintain a sense of normalcy by providing care packages that will have snacks and personal care items to help them throughout the day.*

What we need to make this happen: Packages of socks, underwear, t-shirts (assorted sizes), toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo & conditioner, deodorant, sanitary napkins, washcloths, and non-perishable food items. Last but not least we need a large van donated so that we can carry more items and travel to more locations! : )
